Contraindications
Thrombophlebitis, thromboembolic disorders, CVA or history of these conditions; liver disease or history of cholestatic jaundice, pruritus of pregnancy or herpes gestationis; carcinoma of breast or genital organs, suspected estrogen-dependent neoplasia; disturbance of lipometabolism; undiagnosed vag bleeding; hemiplegic migraine; pregnancy.




Special Precautions
Age, smoking; diabetes, HTN, epilepsy, migraine, cardiac or renal dysfunction; history of depression; uterine fibroids; lactation.


Adverse Drug Reactions 
GI upsets, change in appetite; headache, migraine; abdominal cramps, breakthrough bleeding; breast, menstrual flow & cervical secretion changes, cervical erosion, amenorrhea, post-treatment anovulation, increase in size of preexisting uterine fibroids; depression; pruritus, allergic rash, photosensitivity, alopecia, hirsutism, chloasma, erythema multiforme & nodosum, hemorrhagic eruption; cholestatic jaundice, benign hepatic tumor; HTN; thromboembolism.


Drug interaction
Effectiveness may be reduced by certain antibiotics, phenytoin, carbamazepine, barbiturates, rifampicin.
